Walk for Hunger charity event groton ma

Gibbet Hill Farm is proud to be joining Project Bread again on Sunday, May 1st for the 48th annual Walk for Hunger!  We will be hosting our second annual satellite walk at the farm in Groton, MA, starting at 9am.  We will meet at the Grill and walk to “the castle” at the top of Gibbet Hill and take in the scenic view of the surrounding mountains.  We will also tour the farm and have a visit with this year’s flock of lambs.

Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $3000, surpassing last year’s goal by $1000!  We would love for you to walk with us on the day, setting your own personal goal or donate directly to our team.  You can also contribute non-perishable goods for our food drive as well.  All goods collected will go to Loaves and Fishes, our local food pantry that serves our nerighboring communities.

We had so much fun last year and raised $2000 for Project Bread!!  We hope you can join us this year!

Project Bread Walk for Hunger • May 3

On Sunday, May 3rd, our team, Gibbet Hill Farm, is proud to be joining in Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger.

Every May, over 40,000 people walk all or part of a 20-mile course through Greater Boston, earning the pledges they’ve collected to support Project Bread’s fresh approach to ending hunger in our state.

This year, Gibbet Hill Farm will be hosting a virtual walk in Groton, MA.  We will do a 3 mile hike around the farm located at 61 Lowell Rd in Groton, starting at 9am.  Get a behind the scenes look at Gibbet Hill Farm, hike to the top of Gibbet Hill where where you will see sweeping views of Mt. Wachusett, Mt. Watatic, and Mt. Monadnock.  You’ll also have a chance to tour the ivy-covered ruins to General Bancroft’s Castle, a stone hunting lodge built by General William Ayers Bancroft in 1906. When the walk convenes, we will gather at The Barn at GIbbet Hill for refreshments.

BE PREPARED – the trails may be muddy this time of year, so please use appropriate footwear!

By sponsoring our Walk, you help change thousands of lives across our state.

For many individuals and families across the state, hunger is a very real part of their daily lives. In fact, the rate of household food insecurity is 71% higher than it was a decade ago, up from 6.2% in 2003 to 10.6% in 2013. Last year, Project Bread funded over 400 community food programs that meet people where they are: programs that offer help without stigma… programs that offer a hand-up, not a hand out. Project Bread responds to hunger in both immediate and long-term ways, with innovative, effective solutions dedicated to strengthening individuals, families, communities—and our state as a whole.
