Farmer’s Dinner Series

farm-dinner3

WHAT’S DIFFERENT?
We are pleased to announce a new format for our annual farm-to-fork dinners!  This year we are bringing the fork to the farm.  Farm dinners will be conducted on the farm, right alongside our crops.

MENU
Our chef will start planning the menu just a day or so ahead of time, once it is determined which vegetables and fruits will be at their peak come time for the dinner.  Due to the nature of this type of menu planning, we may not know the menu until the day of the dinner.   We can accommodate allergies, but with the style of this dinner, we will not know how until we are close to the date of the event.  This dinner is an adventure and will primarily showcase items coming off our farm. Dinner will be four courses (three courses family style plus cocktail hour tastes.)   Beverages will be provided and will include beer, wine and soft drinks.
PLAN YOUR VISIT
Seats are very limited for this event, as we will only be hosting 24 guests per dinner. Be sure to wear appropriate shoes, as this dinner will be held on the farm grounds. (Assistance will be provided for anyone unable to navigate the dirt road to the farm tables.)  Guests will be invited to tour the farm and maybe even harvest some of the evening’s dinner

FINE PRINT
Tickets are non refundable after July 3rd.
The dinners will be held rain or shine and held indoors in the Grill if the weather is inclement. Please note that the back up location we have reserved for this event is on the second floor at Gibbet Hill Grill and there is no elevator to this level.  Restroom accommodations will be at the Grill.
The cost per person is $130 and includes four course meal (three seated courses and cocktail hour tastes), all beverages, tax, and gratuity. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE TICKETS FOR JULY 13

PATRIARCH VARIETAL WINNER
CONGRATULATIONS TO Priscilla Sullivan, who came the closest to the blend guess!!

The varietals are: cabernet 70%, merlot 22%, and shiraz 8%.

WHY CREATE OUR OWN LABEL
Last summer the owners of the Webber Restaurant Group decided they wanted to be able to offer their guests a wine that was blended specifically for them. Their goal was to create a red blend that appealed to a wide audience and but would also pair with a large number of menu items across our restaurants.

Enter KateKate Webber is our Wine Director and Sommelier, and she couldn’t have been more excited to head to Sonoma earlier this year to Banshee Wines to create this blend for the group.

Kate selected Banshee for a variety of reasons.  One reason is that she enjoys their wine immensely.  But perhaps more importantly, in her own words, “The winemakers and owners at Banshee are really good people. They believe in the land, they believe in people, they believe in community, and they believe in us.”

Armed with a variety of 2014 wines, Kate got to work blending and the result was our new, fantastic red blend, Patriarch.  A wine that many wine-drinkers can enjoy and can pair with menu items across our restaurants including steak tips, meatloaf, lamb and pork.

WHY “PATRIARCH”
The Webber Restaurant Group would not be in existence if it weren’t for Steve Webber, the patriarch himself.  Sixteen years ago, with the purchase of over 500 acres of land, Steve blocked the development of Gibbet Hill in Groton.  After placing most of the land in conservation, he turned the two barns over to his three children, Josh, Jed, and Kate, who subsequently opened the restaurant Gibbet Hill Grill, and the rest, as they say, is history. The label features die cuts mimicking a Hollerith punch card, reflecting Steve’s legendary background in early computer programming.  Patriarch red wine blend is a fitting tribute from his sommelier daughter.

MEET, GREET AND IMBIBE
Join us on June 27th from 5:30pm-6:30pm at Gibbet Hill Grill to meet the patriarch himself, Steve Webber and his daughter, Gibbet Hill co-owner and Patriarch blender, Kate Webber.  Enjoy complimentary light hors d’eovures and check out the wine, finally available for purchase by the glass (or the bottle)!
