Grab your old running shoes and join us for the 6th annual Gibbet Hill Cattle Run while raising money for a great cause!

Dodge cow-pies, navigate cattle trails, dash through ‘castle ruins’, and get ready to scale Groton’s most famous peak, Gibbet Hill.  The Gibbet Hill Cattle Run is a 8.4 mile, three-person team relay with each team member running two 1.4 mile legs. Think you’ll work up an appetite? Barbecue, beer, and live music will be waiting for you and your team at the finish line to help celebrate raising money for these great causes.  Webber Restaurant Group chefs will team up to create a fantastic barbeque menu that will be well worth your two treks around Gibbet Hill. Thirsty? Our friends from Narragansett will be on hand serving some of their new seasonal brews along with the classic Lager. Hi, Neighbor!

REGISTRATION FEE
To participate in the Run, the fee is $225 or teams must raise a minimum of $225.  All fees and monies raised will be donated to one or any combination of six 2021 beneficiaries (see below). Registration includes a place in the race, barbecue, and one beer for each of the three runners.  But don’t stop at $225!  Our fundraising platform will allow unlimited donation support from friends and family with some great prizes for target donation levels:

RAISE $1500
If your team raises or donates $1500 or more, each team member will receive a ticket to our Hops & Crops dinner (to be held in November 2022), exact date to be determined.)

RAISE $5000
The top three fundraising teams that raises or donates over $5000 will be rewarded with a private dinner for six at the Webber Restaurant Group restaurant of your choice (Gibbet Hill Grill, Scarlet Oak Tavern, The Bancroft, or The Double Bull). The dinner will include a private menu created by the restaurant’s executive chef, tailored to your cuisine preferences, complete with a welcome cocktail and wine pairings (restrictions apply, please click here for details).

Amounts available for each crop will be predetermined by our farmer.  Some crops may be limited, and others abundant, depending on the week and the weather. There will also be weeks in which shareholders can round out their weekly share with an array of pick your own herbs..

A CSA is entering into a deal with the farmer that they will weather the storm of the season, this means if the farm thrives the share will thrive, if certain crops fail then the shareholders might feel that as well.  Between us, the farm staff has over 15 years of experience growing organic vegetables.

PLEASE SEE FAQs below!

FAQs

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE WHAT’S IN MY SHARE?

Becoming a CSA shareholder is an adventure!  We won’t know exactly what will be in your share until the day we are harvesting.

Try our “OFFER BOX”:

If there are items in your CSA share that you cannot eat or do not particularly like, we will provide an “Offer Box” at the CSA pick-up location. You can add that item to the box for other members who might be interested in additional portions of that product. Please remember to peruse the Offer Box for tasty veggies to take, whether you have added some or not.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE OR MISS PICKING UP MY SHAREIf you know you can’t come to pick up, we would be grateful if you could notify us. If you are late picking up, the share will stay in the distribution area overnight.  If the farm team arrives the next morning, and there are any shares that haven’t been picked up, we will donate the share to a family in need.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PYO HERBS?

Pick your own herbs include dill, basil, cilantro, and parsley.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO PICK UP?

NEW THIS YEAR! This year we will be distributed ‘market style’, meaning the crops will be placed in the distribution bay and members will select predetermined amounts of each fruit or vegetable. CSA members will be distributed a re-usable bag for the first pick up.  You may use this each week to pick up your share or you may bring your own bag(s) to collect your share.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY SHARE?

Yes. We don’t need to know that someone else will pick up your share! If they are not familiar with our CSA, please ask them to read these Frequently Asked Questions.

EXAMPLES OF HARVESTS BY MONTH

*Please note, this is not a menu of what will be in your share, but a guideline as to what we are forecasting to harvest these months and what you might see in your share in the corresponding months.  As a reminder, our crops are dependent on the weather and soil conditions and your share will reflect that each week.
